Katie Ahern

Katie Ahearn is a very warm, welcoming person and she will have you feeling comfortable and at home right from the start.

She teaches Vinyasa yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and breath focused meditation.

She places a large emphasis on the breath, and believes that this is an essential key to ground our awareness and to help bring peace and calmness to one’s mind.  This awareness of breath allows us to stay present in each moment, cultivating an awareness of every sensation, breath, feeling and thought throughout our practice.

This gives us an insight into the nature of the mind and to begin to see patterns, which can allow us tot bring change into our lives.

Katie has completed a number of yoga teacher trainings over the years, and these days in her Vinyasa yoga classes, she also incorporates strength, mobility, alignment as well as coordinating the movements with the breath.

From time to time, Katie will pause during the classes so that you can sense and notice how you are feeling.  Yoga is not about external body shapes, but rather all about inner awareness and sensitivity.

She believes that yoga is for everybody, no matter what your age, what your shape or your level of fitness.  Each person is encouraged to judge for themselves whether to practice the more gentle variations that she gives, or would prefer to practice some of the more challenging practices.

Her Yin yoga classes are more gentle and one stays in the more restorative postures for longer, letting go to experience deep states of relaxation.  Katie sometimes uses music during these classes, to aid one’s attention, and to help to let go.
